Stole Our Hearts
This was a last minute Memorial Day Weekend trip. We were looking for a place with privacy but that was not far from town. We both enjoy the mountains and love fishing so when we saw that this location had access to the Watauga River we were pretty excited. The pictures online are very eye-catching but when we arrived the place exceeded our expectations. Not only was the house beautifully decorated and the surrounding views beautiful, but the story behind it all was beautiful as well. In a few short minutes, this place stole our hearts. We spent hours walking around the property, down the road, and through the river. We thoroughly enjoyed the coziness of the house, which was the perfect amount of space, along with the hot tub outside. We enjoy travelling and though we have liked/enjoyed several places we have stayed at in the past, we very rarely go back to the same spot...that will not be the case with this place. We will definitely be returning...for more than two days next time!
We stayed in this cabin over New Year and enjoyed it SO much! Perfect for a family of four. We loved the fact that it was a small space - it allowed us to spend time together as a family. When we were not skiing, hiking or ice-skating in the nearby areas, we were hanging out in front of the fireplace, playing cards, boardgames and listening to music. As a person who loves cooking and good food I would also highlight the kitchen. I have been to many rentals, - most of them, even the high-ends rentals, tend to have really cheap and low quality equipment. This rental was exceptional in this regard - with high quality equipment. I cooked a full turkey dinner for New Years eve with no problems! Would highly recommend this place!
What a beautiful and luxurious cottage! My husband and I brought our two young boys up for a post Christmas vacation to ski and had a great time. We felt it was a great location for all three ski resorts and staying out of all the craziness of being 'in town'. From planning to staying, the owners were very hospitable and friendly. The cottage was beyond our expectations. Wonderful views of old farmland tucked into the mountains. We will definitely be coming back again.
Review for The Maybell House
Really neat secluded place right in the middle of all the good ski resorts and the city of Boone. The house is modern and clean, and the checking in couldn't be simpler. Will stay again when I hit the slopes at Beech or Sugar Mountain.
